Yup, I’m an 80’s kid all the way. I know this because my heart jumps with excitement when I see Denim on Denim! This is certainly a trend that can look awesome if done right!
I’ve been wanting to do it for months and I’m waiting for one of my Senior gals to give it a try. When you pair denim with more denim, there are rules you will want to follow:
1.) Differentiate Your Washes: Try to have each piece of denim look different. As you see above, I paired a light Chambray top to contrast the darker denim jacket. Lastly, a med-wash denim brings it all together. Also, don’t be afraid to incorporate a tint like you see in the boyfriend jeans.
2.) Weight and Texture Matter: To not resemble your dad or grandpa when they wore denim on denim, wear different weights and texture. Chambray is a wonderful way to incorporate light weight while your jacket may be a little heavier. The destruction in the jeans add texture that is pleasing to the eye.
3.) NO to Denim Accessories: Don’t over do it! You don’t need to add in a denim hat or wedges. Instead, accent your outfit with leather, metallics, cloth or canvas. I love how Emma is wearing a metallic leather belt to add a little sparkle. If you want to keep it casual, canvas flats are always fun.
Emma Watson may have sported this outfit in 2014, but Mila Kunis also sported an all denim get up on her 2016 Glamour Cover. Since it can take a little time for the trends to get to North Dakota, I’m hoping I fine the perfect Senior Girl willing to work this look!
